Bereavement services
For over 15 years Croydon Health Services Bereavement Service has offered support to the relatives and friends of those who die in Croydon University Hospital.
Our Bereavement Services office is here to provide help and guidance to families following the death of a relative. Following the death of a relative, our Bereavement Officer will contact the next of kin and advise them of the next steps and link the with our Chaplaincy & Spiritual Care Team who may offer additional help to those grieving.
Families will be provided our “With Sympathies” booklet which provides all the information that you need from registering a death to finding a funeral director to conduct a service. However, at the present time all registration are being done over the telephone, so there is no need to relatives to return to the hospital to register a death.
If you need to contact The Bereavement Department, the number to call is 020 8401 3104 (or 3143). The office opening hours are 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday only. In the event that you need to register death within a certain time frame for religious reasons please contact our Switchboard on 020 8401 3000 and request to be put through to the on call Chaplain who will assist you further.
If you would like to talk to one of our Chaplains for pastoral, spiritual or religious care you can contact them on 020 8401 3105 of which further details are available on our website, please click on this link and go to Chaplaincy Team.
Online, you can view our guide called With sincere sympathy, which provides you with help and guidance in the steps that you may need to take during this difficult time.
