We provide expert clinical skills training to all staff at Croydon Health Services, as well as to our neighbouring NHS trusts through the South London Simulation Network that includes:

Our in-depth training includes full immersion high-fidelity simulation for inter-professional clinical teams, to meet the highest standards of patient safety.

The Clinical Skills & Simulation Centre is located on the 2nd Floor, Red Zone Woodcroft Wing at Croydon University Hospital.

Simulation centreSimulation Based Learning (SBL)

Our Simulation Based Learning (SBL) initiatives are designed so that all healthcare professionals can extend their knowledge and application of clinical skills, team-work, communication, leadership and situational awareness skills in realistic, but safe simulated environments. 

Our goals are to improve patient safety and patient outcomes, focussing on enhancing our inter-professional team performance and training. 

Staff with devices Mobile In-situ Guerrilla Simulation (MIGS)

Within Croydon Health Services, the Simulation team works closely with all hospital and community areas to provide Mobile In-situ Guerrilla Simulation (MIGS). 

This comprises of unannounced training and simulation sessions in the work environment to further improve our already strong systems. 

This method also addresses the local training needs of staff, continuing to build on our robust local Patient Safety structure.

Resuscitation Services and Training

Simulation centreCroydon University Hospital offers a wide range of resuscitation training courses from Basic Life Support to Advanced Life Support. We offer Adult Basic Life Support which is aligned to UK Core Skills Training Framework (UKCSTF) for Health Level 1 for non-clinical staff and Level 2 with AED for clinical staff. 

We also offer Resuscitation Council (UK) approved courses which include the 1 day eALS and 2 day ALS Course (adult Advanced Life Support) and the 2 day EPALS Course (European Paediatric Advanced Life Support) both of which are aligned to UKCSTF Level 3. We are also a registered centre to deliver Resuscitation Council (UK) ILS (Immediate Life Support) and PILS (Paediatric Immediate Life Support) Courses which are both aligned to UKCSTF Level 3.

All resuscitation courses teach the current Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines (2015).

Future planed courses include Paediatric Basic Life Support UKCSTF Level 2 for clinical staff looking after children and the Resuscitation Council (UK) 1 day Newborn Life Support (NLS) which is UKCSTF Level 3.
