Important information for GPs
Paper referrals switch off set for 30 June 2018
New paper referrals will be switched off across the NHS in South West London on 30 June 2018.
Instead, all practices must make full use of the NHS e-Referral Service (eRS) for all consultant-led first outpatient appointments.
The eRS programme will help the Trust meet the conditions of the NHS Standard Contract where, from 1 October 2018 all referrals from GPs must be electronic. From 30 June 2018, we will not able to receive paper referrals.
Until this date, referrals from the current pathways will continue to be accepted:
- tertiary referrals
- referring organisation not connected to NHS eRS, e.g. dentists, optometrists
- self-referrals
