Celebrating International Women’s Day #EmbraceEquity
On Tuesday (8 March) it was International Women’s Day (IWD), an important day for everybody to reflect on the amazing achievements of women globally and through the ages.
This year’s theme is centred on embracing equity #EmbraceEquity for IWD 2023. A time to show that there can only be equality and inclusivity through equitable actions.
We took the time to celebrate the women in our Trust, their achievements and hear their thoughts for this year’s IWD 2023.
We were delighted to hear from our Yemisi Gibbons – Croydon Health Services Chair. Watch here:
Our Chief Nurse - Elaine Clancy shares her take on IWD 2023:
"To embrace equity, we must first highlight its importance in our society. Equity is slightly different to equality, as it advocates fairness. Certain strategies and measures must often be available to compensate for women’s historical and social disadvantages, and this equity can then lead to equality."
"Education is a major part of embracing equity, so I encourage everyone, no matter your gender, to research the history of women’s rights and intersectionality and how that’s lead to where we are today."
It’s not too late to get involved and share your images and copy our social media handles in your posts on either:
