In memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Dear all,

It is with great sadness that yesterday we learned of the death of Her Majesty The Queen. An announcement made by the Royal Family shared the news that Her Majesty passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire.

At 96 years old, The Queen was Britain’s longest reigning Monarch and a much-loved figure across the UK and the World. Her Majesty the Queen dedicated her life to the service of the Commonwealth, acting as the Monarch to 14 Commonwealth Realms in addition to the UK whilst also lending her name to over 600 organisations, taking patronages across a range of charities, military associations, professional bodies and public service organisations in the UK and across the Commonwealth.

Just two months ago, Her Majesty the Queen awarded the George Cross to the NHS, in recognition of almost 75 years’ service including the exceptional efforts of staff across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier this year, we also celebrated Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, with staff across the Trust joining the festivities in celebration of her 70 years’ service.

Our thoughts remain with the Royal Family and those around the world affected by this announcement, and as we enter a national period of mourning, I’m sure you will join me in paying tribute to Her Majesty and the dedication she has shown to her country and to those she serves.

Thank you,

Matthew Kershaw, Cheif Executive and Place Based Lead for Health

The Chief Executive of NHS England, Amanda Pritchard, with a statement that can be seen  here .
