Croydon celebrates our Allied Health Professionals on National AHP Day
On Thursday 14 October 2021 Croydon Health Services NHS Trust is joined the nationwide celebrations for AHPs Day. AHPs Day is an awareness day that honours our Allied Health Professionals, the third largest workforce in the NHS. AHPs play a critical role in the services we provide, from Radiographers to Osteopaths, each and every one of them contribute to the excellent care we provide in Croydon.
We held a number of events to celebrate Allied Health Professionals Day. Firstly, earlier this month we gathered a group of 5 AHPs, and got them to tell us about their experience working through the pandemic and the importance of their role. Take a look at the video here.
Radiographer Lewis Braund shared his story after a patient sent him a thank you card months after he diagnosed her with breast cancer. After her treatment, she had been given the all clear and was on the path to recovery.
‘I usually won’t hear back from patients after we diagnose them as they are passed onto other clinical teams. It was really rewarding to hear back from this particular patient and know that she was on the mend, reminding me of what an incredible impact our work really has'
Today, we were also pleased to hand out AHP Day designed cupcakes to our AHP colleagues at Croydon University Hospital as well as in our community teams across the borough. The celebrations and cupcakes went down a treat!
Alongside these celebrations, we also took to social media to host an AHP Day story takeover with our celebrations and visiting teams throughout the day. Please find links to our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts to view these.
