As soon as I qualified I knew I wanted to spend my career looking after women and their families throughout their pregnancy and through their births at home, and that is what I have done ever since. Firstly at One to One midwives in Chester, then as a private midwife in Surrey and London and I am now thrilled to have joined the homebirth team at Croydon. I am so passionate about building trusting and caring relationships with women and their families.

I had my daughter at home in the pool, in the most beautiful, calm and relaxed environment, and I am passionate about ensuring the opportunity to birth in this way is available to all women. I am hypnobirthing teacher trained and I have recently completed a birth trauma resolution certification. I am also trained in complimentary therapies in pregnancy and I love incorporating these into my practice.

Community midwifery was my first love in maternity care after starting my 21-year long career as a caseload midwife in South East London. I then deepened my experiences, working in Indonesia, and then in Barbados where, for 14 years, I lived and worked as a birth activist and as a birthing centre, home/water-birth and Independent midwife.

During my time in Barbados, I had 2 children, both born gently, outside of hospital; the first was a water-birth at the birthing centre and the second, a water-birth at home. The joy and empowerment that came with the birth of my children has emboldened me to make sure that this kind of experience, and the opportunity to choose this, is available to all families if they so desire.

I am very excited to be a part of such an amazing team that provides care to women and their families in the comfort of their own home. I joined the homebirth team so I could provide continuity of care and develop therapeutic professional relationships with women & their families to create a positive birthing experience and better outcomes through pregnancy, labour and postnatal.

I feel very passionate about ensuring women feel informed and empowered to make choices that are right for themselves and their babies. It is therefore such a privilege to be a part of a team which gives women the choice of birthing within the comfort of their own home. I have a special interest in hypnobirthing and aromatherapy and I look forward to meeting you and supporting  you through your pregnancy, labour and birth, and into parenthood.

Since first joining a Continuity of Carer team over a year ago, I knew this was the style of midwifery I would never want to stop practicing. I have a passion for providing care to women and their families and being able to build that trusting relationship that forms throughout someone’s pregnancy, labour and postnatal period. It is always a privilege to be welcomed into someone’s family and home during the most important and sacred moment of their lives…meeting their little baby, and I can only thank you for letting me be a part of your journey.  I can’t wait to meet you and join you alongside this magical process.
