Fleur Mosley, Lead Emergency Care Paramedic, Resuscitation Department
"I'm team leader for Croydon's Emergency Department Resus, made up of Paramedics and Senior Nurses caring for critically unwell patients and their loved ones.
"We receive priority, blue light patients from London Ambulance Service and anyone in the hospital’s emergency department who needs more intensive care and treatment. We also train and mentor junior staff on resuscitation skills.
"I adore my job and working with a multi-disciplinary team, looking after a critically ill patient and seeing them improve and stabilise, is just wonderful. The teamwork in those circumstances is unique.
"It is hard work in the emergency department, but the team make it so special, with their smiles, random acts of kindness and of course, a good cup of tea. For years we have been a family, working together and supporting each other, through the highs and the lows. I feel lucky to be alongside such a wonderful group of people, who are kind, caring and hardworking clinicians.
"A job in healthcare in the NHS is extremely special. If you are naturally caring and empathetic, and are not afraid of hard work, then it could be for you.
"I enjoy being here over Christmas when people are, generally, in great spirits and everyone brings in food for the staff room and there are Christmas songs in the background. We all make the extra effort to make the department cheery for patients and each other. I have made a Christmas video the last few years. It always puts a massive smile on everyone's face, so watch this space for the 2019 edition!"
