Paediatric (children's) phlebotomy
Children over 13 years may have a sample taken at the adult phlebotomy department; however, this is at the discretion of the phlebotomist and will depend on a child’s suitability. Numbing cream/spray is not used in the adult department.
On arrival to adult phlebotomy, we would advise that you speak to a member of the phlebotomy team so that they can carry out a quick assessment on your child.
