The Trust has proudly signed up to the #EndPJParalysis 70 day challenge

We accepted the End PJ Paralysis campaign 70 day challenge, which launched nationally today, to encourage where possible our patients to get up, dressed in their own clothes and moving before midday, to boost recovery.

All of our adult wards have signed up to the initiative. This will contribute to the campaign’s overall target of giving patients back one million days of their precious time, that would otherwise be wasted in bed in a hospital or care home.

For patients over 80, staying in bed for a week can create 10 years of muscle ageing, which can lead to a loss of independence. Helping patients to stay mobile while in hospital can reduce length of stay and their risk of falling.

When patients wear their own clothes, it can enhance their independence, dignity and hospital experience, which can help to reduce their length of stay.

You can follow the campaign on social media using the hashtag #EndPJparalysis
