Caring for Croydon: a review of our year 2018/19

We have a lot to be proud of at Croydon Health Services.

  • Our hospital mortality rates are now at the lowest levels for five years, and are better than the national average
  • Our waiting times for urgent cancer treatment are some of the shortest in London
  • Our award-winning partnerships are joining up our care and support for people across the borough – at home, in hospital and services across Croydon

But we know there is more to do.

The quality of our outcomes are good, but for some patients their experience does not match the high standards of care and compassion that we expect at all times.
We are also working hard to make our staff feel more connected and more valued within the Trust.

Every year we look back on the progress we have made. In 2018/19, we have opened a bigger and better Emergency Department and pioneered new treatments, including using virtual reality to help people recover from the devastating effects of a stroke.

We also look at the improvements we have still to make - and importantly - what we are doing about them.

This is an exciting time for us in Croydon. We are at the forefront of how the NHS is trying to change. We are increasingly working in partnership to give our staff more freedom to provide seamless care for our community,  allowing us to focus on helping you stay healthy and well, along with caring for you when you are ill.

Here is our year of ‘Caring for Croydon’.
