Gynaecology Oncology

The Gynaecology Oncology service is made up of a mulitdisciplinary team with extensive experience and knowledge in providing high quality and evidence-based care for women with gynaecological cancers.

We have an extensive team made up of consultants, clinical fellow, clinical nurse specialists, physicians associate, Macmillan cancer advanced nurse practitioner, dedicated gynaecology oncology MDT coordinators and dedicated patient pathway coordinator

We provide a rapid access service for patients suspected to have gynaecological cancers. We run several clinics a week with nurse-led, physician associate, registrar and consultant clinics. We provide a ‘one-stop’ service including ultrasound and Consultation. We aim to deliver correspondence to patients and GP’s within 48 hours of the consultation.

Our MDTs are conducted on a weekly basis and comprises of radiologists, nurses, pathologists and an MDT coordinator. Before planning treatment, we discuss all our cancer cases at the Royal Marsden MDT. We perform the majority of our surgeries laparoscopically which reduces the length of stay to less than 36 hours for our patients.

We participate in Enhanced Recovery that has proven to help patients recover quickly from surgery and minimise side effects.

Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy after surgery are delivered at the Royal Marsden.
